2021 National First "Wisdom Cup" Wisdom Ball Competition

City Councilors Zhang Yantong (Central and Western District), Zhang Liao Nailun (Xitun District), and Luo Tingwei (Southeast District, also the current chairman of the Coding Alliance Taichung Branch), along with renowned Taichung entrepreneur Yang Ju Hsun (the inventor of the Wisdom Ball), held a press conference on October 12. The event, launched at Taichung City Government as the starting point for the first-ever national competition, announced the "Wisdom Cup" national competition, scheduled for December 19.

In 2018, the World Puzzle Society recognized the "Wisdom Ball" (巧智拼球), which had previously represented the Republic of China at the German World Invention Exhibition and won the world gold medal. It was deemed to surpass the world’s most advanced Rubik’s Cube in intelligence, with its astonishing 48 to the power of 96 possible variations and its unique mathematical principle of "simplicity within complexity, and complexity within simplicity." This has established it as the world's most intellectually challenging puzzle game.

The previous generation of the Wisdom Ball, known as the "Smart Puzzle Ball," had already outperformed the Rubik’s Cube and earned a world gold medal. It was also part of Taiwan's national team that competed in Germany in 1995. The latest version, the newly invented "Wisdom Ball," has since been awarded 20-year patents in both Taiwan and globally, along with prestigious gold medals for invention.
